2016 ARNOLD AMATEUR USA: FIRST MEDALS DISTRIBUTED

2016 ARNOLD AMATEUR USA: FIRST MEDALS DISTRIBUTED

According to the schedule, master women’s bodyfitness and bikini-fitness were the first disciplines at this year’s Arnold USA. Beautiful and shapely ladies, who don’t look as real “Masters”, created an impressive opening of the three-day show. Many of them will also be seen on the stage in the women’s open categories and with chances for top places.

MASTER WOMEN BODYFITNESS SHORT CLASS, UP TO 163 CM
At the top new international star from Mexico, Maria Jose Lopez, who first won the 2014 Mexico City Cup and then 2015 Junior and Masters Nationals. Second place to Canadian fitness and modeling star Melanie Girard present in the Web also as Melanie Chikitita. In 2015 she won many 2nd places at different Canadian contests and finished 2nd this time also. A series of silver medals? Third place to Sabrina Burgess (Bermuda) who placed 3rd also at the 2014 CAC Championships and 9th at the 2014 Arnold USA (but in the women’s open division).

MASTER WOMEN BODYFITNESS MEDIUM CLASS, UP TO 168 CM
Oksana Balanyuk (USA) moved up from 6th place last year to the top, fighting closely against last year runner-up Zuleica Rezende (USA), who finally finished 2nd once again. Later on Balanyuk grasped unanimously the masters overall title as well. But the 3rd place winner Esmeralda Higadera (Mexico) displayed the biggest progress, advancing from 11th (last) position last year in Columbus and 11th place at the 2015 North American Championships. The biggest surprise? Ninth position of Barbara Molyneaux (Canada) who last year won not only the masters title (tall class) but also the women’s open E Class (up to 170 cm). Measured 168 cm tall, entered the medium class this time.

MASTER WOMEN BODYFITNESS TALL CLASS, OVER 168 CM
Four US girls, three Canadians but the title went to… Brazil. Cynthia Netto came to Columbus first time, following her 5th place in masters class at the 2015 South American Championships. Also impressive progress! Then, a close battle of two Canadian competitors: Dona Garron and Marcia Olsen. Garron participated first time at Arnold, after her 6th place at the 2015 Nationals in masters category while Olsen finished 2nd in Columbus last year. This time Garron was scored 2 points ahead of Olsen.

MASTER WOMEN BIKINI-FITNESS OPEN CATEGORY
This category was including first time in the Arnold USA program, so 28 girls on the stage have made a wonderful inauguration. At the top, a close battle of Paola A. Freeman (USA) and Victoria Bertaux (France). Freeman participated in many American contests last year, coming 4th at the North American Championships and 3rd at the NPC Team Universe. After the next few months of working out she was unbeatable in Columbus. But an even bigger surprise is the 2nd place of personal trainer from Geneva, Bertaux, as her contest history includes two events only: 2015 French Masters Nationals (the winner) and 2015 European Masters Championships (out of top 15 in the 43 girls line-up). But she has a top qualified trainer and life partner: Spanish bodybuilder Francisco Corral, who will compete in the men’s masters category in Columbus as well.
The 3rd place winner Maria Bulatova (Kuzmina) has passed a long way in the physique sports. Up to 2013 in other organizations, winning the Ms. Universe title. From 2013 in the IFBB, first competing in Women’s Physique (4th place at the 2013 Arnold Europe), then in Bodyfitness and now Masters Bikini-Fitness (she turns 36 this year). She works as personal trainer in the “Conan” Gym in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
